September 15, 65, Pikeville
Reginald Allen “Reggie” Davis, 65, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Cumberland County on June 28, 1954, he was the son of the late James Nick Davis and Judith Hall Temple.
Reggie retired from Civil Service as a sheet metal mechanic. He also worked in HVAC and was the owner of Davis Heating & Air Conditioning. He was a 1972 graduate of Massey Hill High School.
An avid collector of British sports cars, Reggie was proud of his MGB. Although he enjoyed his MGB, he was most proud of his family. He could often be heard talking about his children, but his four grandchildren were the true light of his life.
Reggie had a giving heart and served his community in many ways. He is well known as “Coach Reggie” by the many children he coached in middle school and little league football, especially the CBA Little Falcons. He was an advocate for blood donation, having donated over eleven gallons of blood. Reggie was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Goldsboro where he served in numerous capacities.
A graveside service to celebrate Reggie’s life will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with Dr. Glenn Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
Reggie is survived by his wife of forty years, Katherine Jones Davis; children, Anna Tart and husband, Jimmy, Claire Franklin and husband, David, and Greg Davis and wife, Nicole; the apples of his eye, his grandchildren, Parker Franklin, Carter Franklin, Frances Tart, and Caroline Davis; special cousin, Pam Brunson and husband, Ricky; and five siblings.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the grandmother who raised him, Georgianna Parker Horner.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to National Fragile X Foundation, 1861 International Drive Suite 200, McLean, VA 22102 or to First Baptist Church, 125 S John St, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
If Reggie could leave you with one last statement, it would be: Follow Jesus and GO HEELS!!!
