Edna Whitman Price, 72, of the Outlaw’s Bridge area near Seven Springs, found peaceful rest in death early Thursday morning, May 2, 2019 at Wayne Hospital.
Her family will receive friends on Sunday, May 5, at Tyndall Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until funeral services begin at 6:00 p.m. The Rev. J. Paul Rose will officiate. Burial will be in the Duncan Cemetery.
Edna graduated from Seven Springs High School in 1965 and attended Miller-Motte Business School in Wilmington. She had been employed in a manufacturing factory and as secretary in vehicle sales prior to her becoming a licensed insurance agent in 1991. She retired from Kornegay Insurance of Mount Olive with a long tenure of faithful service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Willard Whitman and Ardell Hardy Whitman; a brother, Doug Whitman; an infant brother, Donald Ray Whitman; and two sisters-in-law, Sandra Whitman and Zodie Whitman.
Edna is survived by a daughter, Ronda Hicks, and a son, Russ Reynolds, both of Seven Springs; Russ’s girlfriend, Robin Smith of Calypso; two granddaughters, Jennifer Marie Harmon and Candace Garlett, both of Okla.; four great-grandchildren, Keeley and Bradley Gallia, and Cooper and Conner Garlett; three sisters, Shirley W. Worrell of Mount Olive, Iris W. Duncan and husband, Danny, and Jo Ann W. Cooper and husband, Reid, all of Seven Springs; three brothers, Wendell Whitman and wife, Margaret, of Goldsboro, Durwood Whitman of La Grange, and C. R. “Chet” Whitman of Grantham; a sister-in-law, Sandy Whitman of Albertson, widow of deceased brother, Doug; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is Floyd Pittman of Micro, a dear friend and her dancing companion.
The family wishes to express deepest appreciation to Dr. Kasbari and his team at Southeaster Cancer Center for their excellent commitment of care provided to Edna during her cancer journey. It is in that light that they ask that memorial contributions be made to Cure for the Colors, SMOC, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, NC 27534.
