Mr. Lynwood Daniel Williford, 79, went to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully on Sunday at Vidant Hospital in Greenville after a brief illness. Mr. Williford was born in Nash County, the son of the late Joseph Daniel Williford and Gladys Newton Williford. He graduated from the Lay Academy at Barton College and was the owner of The L. Williford Co. in Goldsboro. Mr. Williford was a member of First Christian Disciples of Christ Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder. He was also a member of the Farmville Masonic Lodge #517 A. F. & A.M. for fifty four years, served as President of the Goldsboro High School Cougar Club, and had been a member of the Goldsboro Exchange Club. Before starting his own business, he had worked for American Savings and Loan. Mr. Williford was an avid sports fan especially his beloved N. C. State Wolfpack.
A service to celebrate his life will be 2 PM Friday at First Christian Disciples of Christ Church with Rev. Dr. Penny Ziemer officiating. A private burial with masonic rites will be in Wayne Memorial Park
He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Judith Moore Williford, daughters; Dee Dee Williford Gottschalk and husband Tom and Sandy Williford King and husband Brendan; sons, Lynwood Daniel Williford, Jr. and wife Cheri and Joseph Williford; grandsons, Jackson and Jousha Frederick and Alex Williford; great-grandchildren, Paisley and Mia Frederick; sister, Mary Sharpe Owens; brother, Larry Williford.
Mr. Williford was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his brother, Newton Williford.
The family will receive friends Friday following the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the First Christian Disciples of Christ Church, 1609 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N. C. 27530.
