June 4, 70, Seven Springs

Timothy Morgan “Tim” Price of Seven Springs, passed away Monday, June 4, 2018. Tim was born February 19, 1948 to the late Bruce Morgan and Mary Barnes Price. In addition to his parents Tim was preceded in death by a sister, Bruce Ann Price Smith; brother, Stephen Davis Price; and a nephew, Patrick Shepherd Price.

Tim could be best described as fiercely loyal, a family man, a patriot, a true conservative, and a Christian.

He volunteered for the United States Army in 1967 where he completed Basic Training at Fort Bragg, Advanced Infantry Training at Fort Jackson, and Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning. He often said he learned more at those three places that would benefit him the rest of his life than he did in four years of college. After OCS he served as a rifle instructor at the Basic Training School at Fort Bragg. He ended his time in the Army with a tour of duty in Vietnam where he served as an Infantry 1st Lieutenant in the 3rd Army’s Americal Division. During this tour he received the Combat Infantryman’s Badge and the Bronze Star.

After his service to his country, Tim enrolled at Atlantic Christian College where he earned a Bachelor Of Arts degree in United States History.

Tim began his 40 plus year career in NC Agriculture by first accepting a position with Swift & Company. He later worked with Cargill, Inc. and finished his career with Goldsboro Milling Company where he assisted in increasing their swine production. He truly found a home at Goldsboro Milling where he thought of the owners and his colleagues not only as friends but as family.

A lifelong member of Seven Springs Baptist Church, Tim served there as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and for many years as a Sunday School Teacher.

Tim served his community as a member of the Wayne County Economic Development Commission, The Cliffs Of The Neuse Advisory Board, and was appointed to the Farmers Home Administration by Senator Jesse Helms. He was a proud life member of the National Rifle Association and the North Carolina Pork Council.

As a young man, Tim enjoyed horses, hunting, fishing and camping along the Neuse River. Later in life he relished his role as a Granddaddy and enjoyed time spent out on the golf course.

A service to honor and celebrate Tim’s life will be held Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Seven Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Seven Springs Community Cemetery with military honors.

Tim is survived by his wife, Jackie Sutton Price; son, Joseph Morgan Price and wife, Ronda; daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Price Roberts and husband, Tracy; five grandchildren, Jodie Morgan Price, Garrett Trace Roberts, Jackie Beth Roberts, Caegan Bartley Jackson and Cameron Bryce Jackson; brother-in-law, Eugene C. Smith; sister-in-law, Becky A. Price; along with several much loved nieces and nephews.

Tim’s family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Price family home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. Memorials may be made to Seven Springs Baptist Church, P.O. Box 55, Seven Springs, NC 28578. Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
