Gale Marie McIntyre Edwards

Gale Marie McIntyre Edwards, age 70, passed away Sunday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born in San Francisco, she was the daughter of the late Richard Dale McIntyre and the late Belle Marie Robinson McIntyre and wife of the late G.C. Edwards.
A celebration of life service will be held at the Oak Ridge Church of God of Prophecy on Thursday at 12 noon. Family members will greet friends immediately following the service at the church.
Gale is survived by a son, Dale Herring and wife, Kimberly; two daughters, Lyn Sanders and Kathryn Colmore and husband, Tim; two brothers, Jack McIntyre and Bob McIntyre and wife, Shelly; and seven grandchildren, Riley Herring, Avery Herring, Cameron Colmore, Tyler Colmore, Alan Hanner, Andrew Hanner and Danielle Guthrie.

Marvin Caswell Bogue

Marvin Caswell Bogue, 83, peacefully passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family. Born in Wayne County on February 22, 1936 he was the son of the late Arthur Marvin Bogue and Evelyn Sauls Bogue.

Caswell was the owner and operator of Bogue Lawn & Cleaning Service. He was a former member of the Mar-Mac Volunteer Fire Department. Prior to his lawn care career, he worked for Pine State Creamery, NC Division of Highways, the National Guard at Fort Jackson, Pepsi, Burlington Industries, and Hamilton Beach.

Caswell had a work ethic like no other, there wasn’t a lazy bone in his body…the man loved to work! He loved people, never met a stranger and enjoyed people watching and talking. Most important in his life was his family. Caswell took excellent care of his wife and beamed with pride over his children and grandchildren.

A graveside service to celebrate Caswell’s life will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with Pastor Daniel Weeks officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.

Caswell is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Nancy Whitley Bogue; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey Caswell and Michele Bogue, Stephen Ross and Kim Bogue, Bert Edward Bogue, and William Ashley and Tonya Bogue; grandchildren, Matthew Caswell Bogue, Brendan Alan Rouse, Jordan Nicole Bogue, Savannah Whitley Bogue, Seth Christian Bogue, Whitley Hayden Bogue, Ashton Nicholas Bogue, and Landen Ross Bogue; sisters, Annie Sue Bogue Denning and Maxine Bogue Ward and husband, Roy; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Nora Edmundson Bogue; sisters, Jacqueline Bogue Brock and Beverly Bogue Pelt; and brother, Gibson Speight Bogue.

Joseph William Wilson

Joseph William Wilson, 85, life-long resident of the Mount Olive area, passed away late Monday night, April 22, 2019 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Mr. Wilson, son of the late John S. Wilson and Esther Lee Potts Wilson was retired from Carolina Power and Light Company where he was shift foreman. He also had been a farmer and was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Mount Olive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 25, at 11 a.m. by the graveside in the Wilson Family Cemetery located near his residence. Dr. Dennis Atwood will officiate. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service. At other times, friends and relatives are welcome to call at the residence of Mary and Jimmy Guilliams.
Memorial gifts may be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 203, Mount Olive, NC 28365.

The mother of his children, Blanche Williams Wilson, passed away in 2008.

Immediate survivors include his daughters, Mary Wilson Guilliams and husband, Jimmy, and Esther Jo Wilson Davis, all of Mount Olive; three beloved grandchildren, Hannah Lottie Guilliams, Laura Rachel Barwick Swinson, and husband, Greg, and Aaron Barwick and wife, Cayla Hobbs Barwick; two great-grandchildren, Wilson Rouse and James Ellis Swinson, with another on the way; and three sisters, Carolyn Wilson Lawrence of Colerain, Nancy Wilson of Holly Springs, and Elizabeth Wilson of Selma.

Another sister, Judy Wilson, preceded him in death.

Ja’Kobe Dequan Applewhite, 21 months, of Goldsboro, passed away Monday. He is the son of Jyhkia Applewhite and Heather Lipscomb.

Barbara Rae Spence, 83, of the Eureka Community, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2019, at Brookdale Country Day Road.

Barbara was born in LaMoure, North Dakota on August 8, 1935 to the late Lloyd Edward Berry and Dorothy Sund Berry. She was married to the late Herbert Earl Spence. Barbara was a longtime member of Eureka United Methodist Church. She was devoted to her church and was involved in many activities where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 25, 2019 from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Eureka United Methodist Church followed by a service to celebrate Barbara’s life at 5:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Rev. Connie Belmore officiating. Interment will be in the Eureka Cemetery.

Barbara is survived by her son, Ed Spence and wife Vicky of Eureka; grandsons, Matt Spence and wife Alexis and Will Spence and wife Megan; and great-grandchildren, Nolan, Madelyn, Charlee and was anticipating the birth of Wyatt in August.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George Berry and sister, Audrey Keil.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Barbara’s memory to Eureka United Methodist Church, 128 N. Church Street, Eureka, NC 27830.

Cornelia “Boots” Young Moore, 83, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2019 at Wayne UNC Healthcare surrounded by her family.

Boots was born in Wayne County on June 1, 1935 to the late Willie and Dixie McFatter Young. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Tilghman Moore and Vernon Moore. For many years, she worked as a nurse’s assistant for a retirement home.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2019 in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Toler officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Cornelia is survived by her daughters, Betty Johnston and husband Richard of Goldsboro, JoAnn Walden and husband James of Burnside, KY and Christy Johnson and husband Charles of Rosewood; son, Davey Moore of Goldsboro; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Williams (Ernest), Valerie Mahon (Carl), Samantha Davis (Rodney), Brandy McMullen Leon (Domingo), Tammy Boyette (Michael), David Moore, Davey Moore, Gary Moore, Rebecca Clarke and their spouses and their extended families. She is also survived by her sister, Patsy Evans.

In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Willie Tilghman “Shot Gun” Moore and sisters, Reba Butts and Lula Mae Etheridge.

The family will receive friends Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Seymour Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and other times at the home of Betty and Richard Johnston, 185 Woodpeck Road, Goldsboro.

William Benjamin “Bill” Mallory, Sr.

William Benjamin “Bill” Mallory, Sr., age 93, Mount Olive resident, died peacefully at home on April 23, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

A native of Martin County, he attended Oak City High School and N. C. State College. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the 100th Army Brigade, 397 Battalion, Company L.

He served as a deputy sheriff, a Boy Scout Troop Leader, and a Soil and Water Conservation Supervisor. He was the farm foreman for R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company on its Avoca Farm for 30 years. He and his wife were residents of Plymouth for many of their working years. In retirement, they came to Mount Olive, she being a native of the area, and were members of First Baptist Church of Mount Olive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Sidney Mallory and Effie Taylor Mallory; brothers, Sidney, Lou Basil, and Dick Mallory; and sisters, Sudie M. Daniels and Mary Ruth M. Overton.

Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Isabelle Goodson Mallory; son, William Mallory, Jr.; daughter, Erma Jean M. Jones, and grandchildren, Olivia, Rebecca, and Joshua Jones, all of Mount Olive, and Sydney Jones of Concord, NH.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 27, at 2 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Rose officiating, followed by visitation. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in the Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive. Flowers will be appreciated, or memorial gifts may be made to Home Health & Hospice (3-HC), 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro NC 27534.

Nellie Pate Herring

Mrs. Nellie Pate Herring, 87, life long resident of the Mount Olive area, passed away early Wednesday morning, April 24, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 26, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Jeff Bartlett and the Rev. Coy Brock, followed by visitation. Committal and burial will be Saturday, April 27, at 11 a.m. in the Maplewood Cemetery of Mount Olive. Friends and family are also being received at her residence. Flowers are welcome, or memorial gifts may be made to Brock’s Chapel Church, 519 Tram Road, Mount Olive, NC 28365, or Jones Memorial Community Church, 2727 Summerlin’s Crossroads Road, Mount Olive, NC 28365.

Mrs. Herring was well known in the area for her expertise in making and altering garments. She had been employed in several area sewing factories through the years, and provided alterations and sewing to her community from her home. She was a life-long church goer, worshipping at Brock’s Chapel Church and Jones Memorial Church.

She was preceded in death by a son, Rommie Herring; her husband, Atlas G. “Jack” Herring; her parents, Clarence H. and Sudie Tucker Pate; sisters, Pearl P. Walker, Ada Mae P. Potter, and Arlene Pate; and brothers, Willis Pate, Clifton Pate, and Paul Pate.

Her survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bobby F. and Rebecca Bond Herring, and Lynwood G. Herring, all of Mount Olive; a daughter and son-in-law, Rita H. and Frank Correll of Goldsboro; another daughter-in-law, Jim Elizabeth Reaves Herring of Mount Olive; six grandchildren, Sara H. Thornton, Amy H. Raiford and husband, Jon, Lesley H. Mosser, Timothy Herring and wife, Jackie, Lee Davis and wife, Jaboha, and Ashley Davis; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois Rouse Kornegay of Warsaw; brother and sister-in-law, David “Bud” and Chris Pate of Nampa, Idaho; and many nieces and nephews.

Annette Stevens Stuart, 79, of the Grantham community passed away on Saturday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. Annette was a nurse at Wayne Memorial Hospital for over thirty years before retiring. She was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Goldsboro.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:00 until 1:00 P.M. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
Mrs. Stuart is survived by two sons, Bobby Stuart of Asheville and Brian Stuart of Hampstead; five grandchildren Nikki, Kyle, Cierrah, Annie, and Olivia; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Stevens Fields and Libby Stevens Hooks and husband, Mike; five brothers, Everett, Woodrow, and wife, Sally, Jerry and wife, Joyce, Charles and wife, Freddie, Wilson and wife Michelle; a sister in law, Janie Stevens; and a brother in law, Donald Grice.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow Wilson Stevens and Mary Helen Stevens; a sister, Barbara Stevens; and a brother, David Michael Stevens.

Annie Bell Phelps Turner

Annie Bell Phelps Turner, 103, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019, after a long fulfilled life.

Annie was born in Ahoskie, NC on March 28, 1916 to the late M.C. and Annie M. White Phelps. She always enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, which included being with her family. For many years, she worked as a cook for the Tower Drive-In.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 11:00 a .m. in Willow Dale Cemetery with Rev. Bill Cotton officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.

Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Britton Turner and sons, Linwood Turner and Billy Turner. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Linda Turner of Goldsboro and several nieces and nephews.

Chris Maxon Lancaster

Chris Maxon Lancaster, 75, peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Wayne County on October 3, 1943 he was the son of the late Norman Wesley Lancaster and Patsy Mae Howell Lancaster.

Chris retired from Cherry Hospital as an EMT and later went on to work with Billy Ray Thomas Backhoe Service for several years. He also enjoyed working with Musgrave Auction Company in Goldsboro. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Over the years Chris worked closely with the Wayne County Livestock Development Association where he served as Vice President for several terms. Chris was also instrumental in the Wayne Regional Agricultural Fair.

Chris loved the outdoors and had a fond love for animals. Nothing was better than a quiet afternoon of fishing with his daughter, Christy, or one of his granddaughters. He had a way with horses and throughout his life spent countless hours training horses for himself and others. At the end of the day, you could often find Chris sitting near the pond or in some other peaceful surrounding enjoying the sunset. He found comfort in the simple things and often commented on the majestic beauty of God’s creation.

A service to celebrate Chris’ life will be held Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Pastor James Gurkins officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home. Interment will be Friday, May 3, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gurley-Lancaster Family Cemetery behind the home.

Chris is survived by his loving wife of forty-nine years, Linda F. Lancaster; daughter, Christy Lancaster Hales and husband, Mike; his three granddaughters who were the apples of his eye, Hannah Evans and husband, Josh, Chrislyn Kirkpatrick, and Weslea Kirkpatrick; sisters, Ann Evans and Priscilla Head; special nieces, Terry Radford and Donna Mozingo; and longtime friend, Don Musgrave.

In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by his brother, N.W. Lancaster; sisters, Marlene Lancaster and Peggy Gurley; and a special nephew whom he considered a son, Johnny Gurley.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Community Home Care and Hospice, along with a special thanks to his hospice nurse, Allison, for the exceptional care provided to Chris in his final days.

Joe Edward Lewis

Joe Edward Lewis was born March 21, 1939 in Duplin County to the late Willie Lewis and Ruby Smith. He graduated from Dillard High School in 1958. He served in the U.S Army and was discharged with honors.

In 1976 he married the love of his life. Johnnie B Taylor. He was a devoted husband and loving father to their three children; Joan, Margaret and Cynthia. He was a caring grandfather to his 3 grandchildren; Sylvia, Kristopher and Madison.

Joe accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined St. Delight United Holy Church where he served as a Deacon, Trustee, and on the Usher Board. He served as the President of the Ushers Union for many years in the Southern District Convocation, where he worked diligently to unite the ushers under a common goal of glorifying Christ. He was also President of the Scholarship Committee and took delight in singing with the Male Chorus and working with the Senior Outreach Ministry. His joy was teaching as he taught Sunday school for many years. His love for God ignited his service to the church.

He was a hard worker with a vibrant personality that loved to be around people. He never met a stranger. Professionally he worked many years at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base as a Civil Engineer and retired with honors.

After fighting a long stint of illness, Joe departed this life on Sunday April 28, 2019 in his home in Lancaster, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Joan, as well as seven loving siblings, James, Richard, Ben, John ,Althea, Louvenia and Willie Jay.

Leaving to cherish his memory is his devoted wife Mrs. Johnnie Lewis of the home; one sister, Gertrude Daye of Raleigh, NC and two children, Margaret Watkin of Charlotte, NC and Cynthia Lewis of Lancaster, SC.; grandchildren include, Sylvia Howell (David) of Goldsboro, NC and Kristopher and Madison Watkin of Charlotte, NC. He also leaves behind six great-grandchildren and a host of loving relatives and special beloved friends, Bertha Pridgen (Larry) and Patricia and James Pittman.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 02, 2019 at noon in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park North. A viewing will be held Thursday from 11 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 12:00 P.M. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Willoughby officiating. Committal services will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Lawrence Worrell, 89, passed away on “Monday” April 29, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.

Lawrence was born in Wayne County on June 16, 1929 to the late Kirby and Pearl Turner Worrell. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Virginia Phillips Worrell. Lawrence retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company after 43 years of service. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.

Lawrence loved gardening and growing things. He nurtured people and plants with equal care. Lawrence opened his heart to anyone who needed to be cared for.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with Lenny Reagan officiating.

Lawrence is survived by her daughter, Anita Lamberth; son, Chris Worrell; four grandchildren, Scott, Christina, Ross and Jesse; four great-grandchildren, two sisters, Pearl and Elizabeth; and many nieces, nephews and cousins he loved very much. He was preceded in death by another son Robin Dale Worrell.

Jean Andrews Herring

Mrs. Jean Andrews Herring, life long resident of Mount Olive, passed away Tuesday morning, April 30, 2019 at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was 94 years of age.

Born in Mount Olive, she was the daughter of the late Allen B. Andrews and Sadie Loftin Andrews. A life-long member of the First United Methodist Church of Mount Olive, it was there that she was baptized at a young age. She had been a member of the church choir, and was active in many other church functions through the years. Also to note, she was an avid bridge player, an excellent cook, had a great sense of humor, enjoyed talking, and had the sharpest mental faculties right until the end. She was proud of the fact of being independent, having lived alone and tending to her own affairs.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond M. Herring; a son-in-law, Gene Carter; a brother, Ray Clark Andrews; and a sister, Sarah Elizabeth Arneson.

She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Susan H. and Dick Murphy of Highlands, NC, and Sandy H. Carter of Winston-Salem; two granddaughters, Susan Kermon of Chapel Hill, and Melissa Winfree and husband, Shawn, of Greensboro; and a great-granddaughter, Carter Elizabeth Winfree of Greensboro. She is also survived by Patti Spurgeon Turner and her husband, Milford, and daughter, Katelynn Morgan. Patti was a dear friend who was more like a daughter, and Katelynn, a granddaughter.

In addition, she is survived by a special friend, Jay Hines; several nieces and nephews with their families, and numerous cousins..

Funeral services will be Friday, May 3, at 11 a.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home with Dr. H. Dennis Draper, Jr. and the Rev. Michael Binger officiating. A private interment will follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday night, May 2, from 7 until 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, it was Mrs. Herring’s request that memorial gifts be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605, or First United Methodist Church, PO Box 420, Mount Olive, NC 28365.

Nancy Carol Wolfe, 68, passed away Wednesday morning, May 1, 2019 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

She was born in Wayne County on February 23, 1951 to the late Paul and Esther Kathleen Joyner Howell. Nancy was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond K. Wolfe Jr.; two sons, Gerald Whitfield Tart Jr. and wife, Shannon of New Mexico and Robert Adam Wolfe and wife, Breena of Pikeville and two grandchildren, Liam Tart and Wesley Wolfe.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.

Mr. Lynwood Daniel Williford, 79, went to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully on Sunday at Vidant Hospital in Greenville after a brief illness. Mr. Williford was born in Nash County, the son of the late Joseph Daniel Williford and Gladys Newton Williford. He graduated from the Lay Academy at Barton College and was the owner of The L. Williford Co. in Goldsboro. Mr. Williford was a member of First Christian Disciples of Christ Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder. He was also a member of the Farmville Masonic Lodge #517 A. F. & A.M. for fifty four years, served as President of the Goldsboro High School Cougar Club, and had been a member of the Goldsboro Exchange Club. Before starting his own business, he had worked for American Savings and Loan. Mr. Williford was an avid sports fan especially his beloved N. C. State Wolfpack.

A service to celebrate his life will be 2 PM Friday at First Christian Disciples of Christ Church with Rev. Dr. Penny Ziemer officiating. A private burial with masonic rites will be in Wayne Memorial Park

He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Judith Moore Williford, daughters; Dee Dee Williford Gottschalk and husband Tom and Sandy Williford King and husband Brendan; sons, Lynwood Daniel Williford, Jr. and wife Cheri and Joseph Williford; grandsons, Jackson and Jousha Frederick and Alex Williford; great-grandchildren, Paisley and Mia Frederick; sister, Mary Sharpe Owens; brother, Larry Williford.

Mr. Williford was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his brother, Newton Williford.

The family will receive friends Friday following the service in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the First Christian Disciples of Christ Church, 1609 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N. C. 27530.

Edna Whitman Price, 72, of the Outlaw’s Bridge area near Seven Springs, found peaceful rest in death early Thursday morning, May 2, 2019 at Wayne Hospital.

Her family will receive friends on Sunday, May 5, at Tyndall Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until funeral services begin at 6:00 p.m. The Rev. J. Paul Rose will officiate. Burial will be in the Duncan Cemetery.

Edna graduated from Seven Springs High School in 1965 and attended Miller-Motte Business School in Wilmington. She had been employed in a manufacturing factory and as secretary in vehicle sales prior to her becoming a licensed insurance agent in 1991. She retired from Kornegay Insurance of Mount Olive with a long tenure of faithful service.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Willard Whitman and Ardell Hardy Whitman; a brother, Doug Whitman; an infant brother, Donald Ray Whitman; and two sisters-in-law, Sandra Whitman and Zodie Whitman.

Edna is survived by a daughter, Ronda Hicks, and a son, Russ Reynolds, both of Seven Springs; Russ’s girlfriend, Robin Smith of Calypso; two granddaughters, Jennifer Marie Harmon and Candace Garlett, both of Okla.; four great-grandchildren, Keeley and Bradley Gallia, and Cooper and Conner Garlett; three sisters, Shirley W. Worrell of Mount Olive, Iris W. Duncan and husband, Danny, and Jo Ann W. Cooper and husband, Reid, all of Seven Springs; three brothers, Wendell Whitman and wife, Margaret, of Goldsboro, Durwood Whitman of La Grange, and C. R. “Chet” Whitman of Grantham; a sister-in-law, Sandy Whitman of Albertson, widow of deceased brother, Doug; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is Floyd Pittman of Micro, a dear friend and her dancing companion.

The family wishes to express deepest appreciation to Dr. Kasbari and his team at Southeaster Cancer Center for their excellent commitment of care provided to Edna during her cancer journey. It is in that light that they ask that memorial contributions be made to Cure for the Colors, SMOC, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, NC 27534.

Louise Watkins Edwards

On Thursday evening, May 2, 2019, Louise Watkins Edwards, 87, moved to her Heavenly home. Louise was a godly woman who loved the Lord and her family and set an example for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that will lead them all their lives.

Louise was born in Wilson County on May 9, 1931 to the late Elder Thomas Watkins and Madie Williams Watkins. She was married for 42 years to the late Amos L. Edwards. Louise worked in the family business, Edwards Truck Service, until the death of her husband. She loved Coker Memorial Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and was a dedicated and faithful servant her entire life. Louise was the kindest and most loving mother and grandmother and a great friend to everyone. She will be missed by all who were blessed enough to know her.

A service to celebrate Louise’s life will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Coker Memorial P.F.W.B. Church with Rev. Michael Sauls, Rev. Dennis Pollock and Rev. Bill Rose officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park in Wilson. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 4, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter in MarMac.

Louise is survived by her children, Alton Wayne Edwards, Preston Allen Edwards and wife Patsy, Dennis Ray Edwards and wife Robin, Gloria Dianne Edwards Brock, Danny Keith Edwards and wife Shana, and Donald Glenn Edwards and wife Patricia; eight grandchildren, Mike Edwards (Tracy), Lynn Owens (Mark), Thomas Edwards (Gina), Chris Brock, Amy Hooker (Jerimee), Jonathan Edwards (Hannah), Darian Nash (Rich) and Jacob Edwards; step-grandchildren, Emily, Lea, and Alanina Williams (Shane); ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews she loved very much.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Viola Edwards; son-in-law, Bobby A. Brock Jr.; sister, Hazel Daniels and brother, Dempsy Watkins.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Coker Memorial P.F.W.B. Church, 2643 N. Beston Road, LaGrange, NC 28551 or to the charity of one’s choice.
