April 2, 97,

Edna Gray Singleton, 97, Mount Olive area resident, went to her heavenly home Tuesday night, April 2, while being cared for at Genesis Healthcare Center.

Daughter of the late Emmett and Betsy Burroughs Gray, she was the oldest and the last survivor of their five children. Her life was not always an easy one, for when she was eleven, her mother died, and she quickly assumed the role of being “mother” to her younger siblings and performed housekeeping duties. She enjoyed working in the yard and garden, “putting up” vegetables by means of canning and freezing, and she loved to read. Of utmost joy to her was being with her family. As a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, she loved worshiping her Lord as long as she was able and until her mind faded.

She is survived by four children and their spouses, Thurman Lee Doreauk of Concord, Brenda S. and Jerry Thompson of Grantham, Bobby Ray and Debbie Singleton, and Becky S. and Stanley Kelly, all of Mount Olive; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren–what a legacy of love, joy, and devotion she leaves behind!

Another son, James Mickey Singleton, Sr. and a grandson, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 5, at 2 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, officiated by her grandson, the Rev. Stanley Kelly Jr., and followed by entombment at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will have visitation at the funeral home during the hour before the service, and at other times, friends and family may call at the home of Becky Kelly, 851 Norwood Ezzell Road in the Rones Chapel area, and at the home of Brenda Thompson, 659 Grantham School Road at Grantham.

A Tyndall Service.

April 6, 84, Mt. Olive

Jesse Ann Price Graham Lee, 84, of Mt.Olive passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Ann was born in Wayne County, October 25, 1934, to the late Jesse Katherine and Herbert Parker Price. Ann was preceded in death by her first husband, Julius Hansel “Teeny” Graham, and by her twin grandsons, Jason and Jay Lane. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Voldie Ladd, Dannie Mae Gwaltney, and Peggy Weeks and by brothers, Herbert Price Jr., Earl Price, and Bobby Price.

Ann retired from Home Health and Hospice of Wayne County (3 HC). She was a dedicated compassionate lady and loved taking care of people.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 9th from 12:30-1:45pm at Mount Olive First PH Church. A service to celebrate Ann’s life will be held at 2:00pm, also at the Mount Olive First PH Church, with the Rev. Jeff Dail, Rev. Bill Rose, and Dr. Larry Withrow officiating, followed by graveside service and burial in Wayne Memorial Park.

Serving the Lord and taking care of her family were the driving forces in Ann’s life. She truly loved doting on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was her family’s greatest cheerleader and supported them in all their endeavors.

Ann’s table was the heart of her home. It was there that the family gathered for home cooked meals and joyous times of fellowship. When she prepared meals for the family, she made sure to have all of their favorite dishes. Ann loved a good fish fry with fresh spots and sea mullets. With her family at the forefront of all she did, she remembered everyone’s birthday and celebrated with a special home cooked birthday dinner.

Life for Ann simply revolved around her family. She was deeply loved as much as she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Some of her most enjoyable times were shared with the grandkids at their many activities, but we all knew that nothing ever interfered with her “beauty shop day.”

Ann’s absence leaves a void in the hearts of her children and grandchildren, but her love and memory will remain close to their hearts forever.

Ann is survived by her husband Bee Julius “BJ” Lee of 43 years, and her brother, Thomas and Dean Price of Dudley. She is also survived by her children, Jackie and Brenda Graham, Jerry and Deborah Graham, Pat Graham Kendall and special friend Kenneth Smith, Joey and Michele Graham, Jeffrey and Diane Graham, Julie Graham and special friend Don Hargrove, Hampton Lee and special friend Sharon Smith; and her very dear grandchildren, Wade and Malissa Graham, Summer and Taylor Carr, Jonathan Graham, Anthony Graham, Chad Smith, Ashley and Duane Krueger, David and Susan Price, Rene Parker, Crystal and Paul Smith, Justin and Rebecca Graham, Wesley Graham, and 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Mama, MeMa, Mama Ann, Mrs Ann…the many names you were known by, We love you and you will forever be in our hearts. Her favorite bible verse was:
“ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Phillippians 4:13
