Gladys Blackman Wells, 83, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Wayne UNC Healthcare.
Gladys was born in Wayne County on March 22, 1934 to the late Clarence Blackman and Edna Marie Pollock Blackman. She had worked for many years as a Music Therapist with Cherry Hospital. Gladys was a member of Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church where she had served as organist and pianist since she was thirteen years old. She brought joy, laughter and love to everyone she met. For many years, Gladys conveyed her joy of music to students all over Goldsboro through her many teaching jobs. Gladys will always be loved by her daughter and grandsons and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Gladys’ life at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Colby Leonard and Pastor Linda Grider officiating. Interment will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.
Gladys is survived by her daughter, Carla Elizabeth Sauls; and three grandsons, Fred A. Vance, III, James Timothy Sauls, and Kevin Michael Sauls.
In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Grady.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Gladys’ memory to Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church, 2802 E. Ash Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530 or perform an act of kindness or listen to some music with Gladys in mind.
