Jesse Bright Grant

May 15, 81, Goldsboro Jesse Bright Grant, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.Jesse

J.B. was born in Wayne County on November 12, 1934 to the late Norman Lee Grant and Tressie Holmes Grant.  He worked for many years as the manager of New Hope Milling Company.  J.B. was a longtime member of New Hope Friends.  He was devoted to his church, served as the cemetery caretaker, and was involved in the ministry of the Quaker Men.   J.B. had a great love for softball and enjoyed coaching or just watching others play. He also was an avid hunter and sportsman.  J. B. will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A service celebrating J.B. will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at New Hope Friends Church with Bill Garner and Jon Hoefer officiating.  Interment will be on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in New Hope Friends Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday following the service in the family life center and other times at his home.

J.B. is survived by his wife, Evelyn Grant; children, Phillip Grant and wife Patricia of Seven Springs, Pam G. Edwards and husband Harold of Goldsboro, and Dawn G. Walker and husband Timmy of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Nichole Foucht, Jessica Jones, Bryan Twiggs, Heather Twiggs Lawrence, Kelly Dawson, Elizabeth Edwards, and Jordan Edwards; great-grandchildren, Michael Foucht, Margo Foucht, Matthew Foucht, Addison Jones, Emery-Kate Dawson, Eden Kole Dawson, and Brodie Carter; and his sister, Irma Morse of Goldsboro.  He is also survived by his step-children, Sherlene Mansfield and husband, John, Edsel Garris and wife Beverly, John Lee Garris, and Jeff Garris and wife Karen; and several step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Frances Kearney Grant and his brother, Elwood Lee Grant.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be given to the New Hope Friends Church, % Softball Project, 4451 U.S. 70 Business, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
