Betty Boykin Joyner, 79, passed away on Thursday at her home.
A service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home. Interment will be Monday, March 6, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Raleigh Memorial Park, Raleigh, NC. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 7 p.m. and immediately following the service at Seymour Funeral Home.
Betty was born in Wilson County to the late William Hillard Boykin and Jennie Daphne Boykin. She was married for 55 years to Garland Delendo Joyner, who preceded her in death on January 19, 2010. She owned and operated Joyner Rentals in Goldsboro. Betty loved The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a dedicated and faithful servant her entire life. She also loved the outdoors and would always enjoy the opportunity to go fishing with her family, especially with her sister Mary.
Betty is survived by her son, Billy Delendo Joyner of Goldsboro; her grandsons, Jeremy Delendo Joyner and wife, Ashley and Garrett Delendo Joyner; great-grandsons, Jonah Delendo Joyner and Atticus Thomas Joyner; her sister, Mary Addie Boykin Strickland and husband John; and several nieces and nephews she loved very much.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Audrey Jeanette Joyner; a granddaughter, Natalie Nicole Joyner; and a brother, Billy Ray Boykin.
