John David Tew, 78, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
John was born in Wayne County on October 19, 1938 to the late Miles Casey Tew Sr. and Evelyn Howell Tew. He owned and operated the family business, John Tew Assosciates. John was a hard-working man, which was the theme of his life, he lived to work. He was the kind of man who was loyal to his family, who took great pride in caring and providing for them.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Roy Savage officiating.
John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Verla Ann Chestnut Tew; daughter, Joy Tew Bissette and husband Dennis of Wilson; grandchildren, Katlin Bissette, Erika Wanjorek-Caslavka (Brandon), and Alecia Mears (Anthony); a great-grandson, Brayden; sister, Geraldine Tew Schumacher of Rock Hill, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Miles Casey Tew, Jr. and Ed Tew.
