Shirley Ruth Adams Harper, died Monday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born in Elberton Georgia she was the daughter of the late Chester Vernon and Beaulah Flemming Adams and was the wife of Thomas Earl Harper of Pikeville.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Goldsboro with Bishop J.W. Bass officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Ruffin Aycock Cemetery in the Nahunta Community. The family will visit with friends on Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.

Shirley was a homemaker and a member of the Nahunta Community Women’s Club and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She had also served as a volunteer at Kitty Askins Hospice Center and as a volunteer with the reading program at Northwest Elementary School.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law; Adam Paul and Becky Belvan of Goldsboro, Andrew William and Brandi Belvan of Ft. Collins, Colorado, John David and Blanca Belvan of Raleigh and Joseph Thomas and Arielle Harper of Pikeville, a daughter; Angela Carol Belvan of Jacksonville, Fla., a brother and sister-in-law; Franklin Vernon and Dickey Adams of Raleigh and eight grandchildren.
