On Monday morning, January 30, 2017, Ruth Tonkin Kendall, 91, of Goldsboro, moved to her Heavenly home. Ruth was a godly woman who loved the Lord and her family and set an example for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that will lead them all their lives.
Ruth was born in Queens, New York on November 18, 1925 to the late Harold S. Tonkin and Agnes Albert Tonkin. She was married to the late Colonel Howard J. Kendall. Ruth loved St. Mary Roman Catholic Church and was a dedicated and faithful servant her entire life. She was the kindest and most loving mother and grandmother and a great friend to everyone. Ruth had a large extended circle of family and friends and they were all very special to her. She will be missed by all who were blessed enough to know her.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Ruth’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2017 at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church with Father John Alex Gonzalez presiding. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Donna Hill of Grantham and Dianne Kendall of Goldsboro, sons, Russell Kendall and wife, Louise, of Tucson, Ariz., Robert Kendall of Goldsboro, Richard Kendall and wife, Pam, of Pikeville, Roger Kendall and wife, Kim, of Goldsboro, and Rene Kendall and wife Susan of Tennessee; sisters-in-law, Sharon Kendall of Wendell and Lisa Pate Kendall of Goldsboro; 29 grandchildren, and 52 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her sons, Raymund S. Kendall, and Ronald S. Kendall.
