RET. Sr. Master Sergeant Marvin P. Shearod, Jr., of Goldsboro, NC, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, Jan 24, 2017, at Wayne UNC Health Care in Goldsboro.
Marvin Shearod, Jr. was born in Ozark, Alabama, on Feb, 09, 1947, to the late Marvin P. Shearod, Sr. and Cora Lee Borders Shearod. He was one of 8 children. He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Miriam Barrett and James Carlton Shearod. He was a motivated and hardworking patriarch; instilling the same work ethic and values in the lives of those he touched. He was a family man, who demonstrated love and family unity, which created a gift of life for all who became a part of his life.
A gathering for family and friends will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017 from 1 until 3 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. A repast will follow at Guiding Star Holy Church at 1114 S. Slocumb Street.
He is survived by his loving wife, Frances Shearod, of the home; a son, Gary Shearod of Austin, TX, and daughters, Cheryl Shearod Fogg (Bryant) of Raleigh, NC and Shelanda Shearod of Atlanta, GA; a brother, Glenn Charles Shearod (Geraldine) of Camp Springs, MD and 4 sisters, Shirley Porter and Rita Greenfield of Goldsboro, NC; Marva Shearod and Felicia Shearod of Atlanta, GA; 7 granddaughters, 1 great granddaughter, a host of other relatives and friends and a special brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Edna Vanderhorst.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. Although appreciated, the family is not accepting any flowers.
The family will receive friends and other family members at the family home.
