Marilyn Hartman Duraski, 81, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Marilyn was born in Trenton, New Jersey on October 3, 1935 to the late Wallace Reeve Hartman and Angie Francis Hartman. She was married to the late George John Duraski. Marilyn served as the clerk for over 20 years of the Township of Chesterfield, New Jersey and after moving to Goldsboro, North Carolina she worked with Wayne Veterinary Hospital. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Women’s Circle, the New Neighbors Club and sang in the choir. Marilyn brought joy, laughter and love to everyone she met. While in retirement she continued to enjoy cards, knitting, crafting, and shopping. She had a lasting impact on everyone she met and will be dearly missed. Marilyn’s greatest joy was spending time with family and friends and telling her special stories.
A service celebrating Marilyn’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Pastor John Misenheimer officiating. The family will greet friends following the service during the luncheon.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Debbie English and husband Fred, and Carol Van Havere; brother-in-law, Dr. George Silver; sister-in-law, Helene Hartman; grandchildren, Blake Horton, Lauren Stires, and Ashley Van Havere; great-grandchildren, Payton Stires and Benjamin Stires; nephew, Dr. George R. Silver and wife Pam; and niece, Melissa A. Silver.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dr. Jane Silver, and her brother, Wallace R. Hartman.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 532 Country Day Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
