Emily Jean Brown, 95, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield.
Emily was born in Wayne County on August 23, 1921 to the late Emmett and Mary Lamison Brown. She had worked as a secretary with the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Emily was a member of First Baptist Church.
A service celebrating Emily’s life will be held by the graveside at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 in Willow Dale Cemetery with Chaplain Alan Strickland officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
Emily is survived by two nieces, Jeanne Sasser and husband Henry of Goldsboro and Pat Toler and husband J.B. of Goldsboro; and several nieces and nephews as well as several great nieces and nephews that she loved very much. She is also survived by a special niece and caregiver, Katrina Jones.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Brown Brogden and Mary Elizabeth Brown.
