Marvin Edmond Sauls, Jr., age 41, died Friday at UNC Chapel Hill Hospital. He was born in Wayne County to the late Marvin Edmond and Laura Huffman Sauls. He was a 1993 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and worked as a fabricator. Whenever Eddie was at home, you would often find him outside by his oasis.

A memorial service will be held Sunday evening at 7:00pm at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Pastor Al Sullivan officiating. The family will be receiving friends immediately following the memorial service.

He is survived by his wife, Tommie Ann Sauls; his sons, Noah Sauls and Allan Sauls, both of Pikeville; three daughters and son-in-law, Ashley Pilkington of Goldsboro; Kim & Brian Stephenson of Goldsboro; and Jenna Sauls of Pikeville; brother, J.C. Sauls of Goldsboro; sister & brother-in-law, Tammy & John Thornton of Pikeville; his grandchildren who were the apple of his eye, Teianna Hall, DeVon Hall, Kaylee Stephenson, Hannah Yelverton and two on the way, Kaison Brown and Crisleigh Stephenson; nieces, Elizabeth, Abigail and Emily Thornton; a loving aunt that assisted in raising him, Sarah Malpass and husband, George Lloyd Malpass; and his dog, Bridgett.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Crystal Hall.

In addition to flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Cures for the Colors, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro NC 27534.
