Edward Lee Wiggs, 85, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Ed was born in Johnston County on October 6, 1934 to the late Hubert and Ophellia Braswell Wiggs. He had worked for many years as a foreman with E.N. Troutman Construction Company in Goldsboro and later worked with Automotive Wholesalers and APV. Following retirement, Ed worked with his son-in-law as a horse farrier. Ed was a member of Nahunta Friends Meeting.
A private graveside service for the family will be held at the Princeton Cemetery.
Ed is survived by his wife, Frances Hardison Wiggs; son, Eddie Wiggs and wife Kelly; daughter, Jenny Thompson and husband Eric; stepsons, Gregory Hare and wife Jackie and Jimmy Hare and wife Becky; brother, Leamon Wiggs and wife Sylvia; grandchildren, Sarah Wiggs, Lauren Wiggs, Katharine Wiggs, Jude Langley, Betsy Wiggs, Ryan Worley, Collin Worley, Connor Worley, Shane Ellis and wife Hart, Alexis Spence and husband Matt, Jessica Pate and husband Adam and Matthew Hare; and four great-grandchildren, Madelyn Spence, Nolan Spence, Lainey Pate and Emma Grace Ellis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Betsy Wiggs; daughter, Karen Ellis; two sisters and two brothers.
Pallbearers serving for Ed’s service will be Ryan Worley, Connor Worley, Collin Worley, Shane Ellis, Blake Glover and Dean Wiggs.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial be given in his memory to Nahunta Friends Meeting, 2537 Hwy. 581 North, Pikeville, NC 27863 or to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
