Paul Fair Bissette, 93, peacefully passed away on Monday, September 16, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Wayne County on November 24, 1925, he was the son of the late Nealy Ernest Bissette and Lida Mae Langston Bissette. Paul was married to his wife of 75 years, Edna Forehand Bissette. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Paul retired from General Electric.
A service to celebrate Paul’s life will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Smith and Rev. Harold Jones officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home. Burial will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Pikeville Cemetery with military honors.
Paul is survived by his daughter, Gail Barnes and husband Jerry of Pikeville; sons, Edward Bissette and wife Janet of Clayton, David Bissette of Pikeville, Randy Bissette of Pikeville, Ernie Bissette and wife Lorelei of Greenville; and Adrian Bissette and wife Christine of Charlotte; daughter-in-law, Tracy Davis Bissette of Pikeville; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Tim Bissette and Christopher Bissette; great-grandson, A.J. Helton; three sisters; and two brothers.
