Carol Sauls Evans, 82, completed her journey home on Saturday, August 31, 2019 to the welcoming words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
Carol was born in Wayne County on October 19, 1936 to the late James Henry Sauls and Ora Lee Skinner Sauls. She was married for almost 50 years to her late husband, William Jackson Evans. Together, Carol and William farmed in the Patetown community and later owned and operated Crossroads Café in both Pikeville and Goldsboro for many years.
Carol was a charter member of Patetown Church of God. She was devoted to her church and was involved in many activities where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her precious grandchildren. She will be missed.
A service to celebrate Carol’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of Patetown Church of God with Rev. Marvin Wiggins and Rev. Mark Sauls officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the church and other times at the home of Rhonda and Keith Easom in Wilson. Interment will be on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in Eureka Cemetery.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Easom and husband Keith of Wilson; grandchildren, Dustin Evans and wife Jenifer, Don Ross Evans, and Lauren Jones and husband Allan; great-grandchildren, Haley Evans, Ali Weaver, Savannah Evans, Hudson Jones, Penelope Jones, Jude Jones and Layla Evans; and a step-grandson, David Brumley. She is also survived by her sisters, Joyce Benton and husband Billy and Sandra Pridgen and husband Frankie; and her good friend, Rose Lancaster.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Donald Jackson Evans,,great-granddaughter, Kayla Evans and brother, Melvin Sauls.
