Mr. Jones spent his growing up years in the Red Hill community near Mount Olive. From humble beginnings, he became a successful businessman. With partner, O. W. “Tipp” Scott, Scott & Jones, Inc., a metal fabrication and mill engineering company, was founded in 1954 in the Scott’s Store community and later relocated to Calypso. Known as a benevolent man who did unseen things for others without any fanfare, he was a friend to all. He and his late wife were very involved in the Mount Olive Pickle Kickers square dancing group, and he was a life member of the American Legion Post 103. He worshiped his Lord at Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Sandlin Jones; his parents, Garvis and Pennie Herring Jones; three brothers, Park “Bill” Jones, Royce “Tobe” Jones, and Kenneth “Cuz” Jones; and his beloved white poodle, Dancer.
