James Randall Edens, known to most as Randy Edens, passed away Tuesday evening, July 30, 2019 at the age of 67. He was a resident of Duplin Country Club,Kenansville.

Randy, a native of Goldsboro, was an all-state football star at Goldsboro High School where he proudly wore jersey no. 5. He immensely loved sports, particularly football, the game of golf, and duck hunting. Quite the innovator, he had created many unique, one of a kind gadgets during his life.

He and his wife had owned and operated Edens Insurance Agency for over 20 years.

A service to remember his life will be held Friday, August 2, at 6:30 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive. Officiating will be the Rev. Jerry Sheffield, with Shawn Batts sharing words of remembrance. A time of visitation with the family will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534 (donations should be specified as “Wings of Life in memory of Randy Edens”).

Randy is survived by his wife, Nancy Whitman Edens, who he lovingly referrred to as “Ma;” two sons, Neil Edens and wife, Beth, of Kentucky, and Brad Edens and wife, Brooks, of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Grace Elizabeth, Anna Beth, Jake, and Paul Edens; a brother, Bill Edens of Pikeville; a sister, Kay E. Satterfield of Goldsboro; a special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ellen and Wayne Matthis of Faison; and special family friends and neighbors, Pam and Shawn Batts and family of Kenansville.

Parents, Nova D. Edens, Jr. and Elizabeth Howell Edens, and older brother, Nova Donald Edens III, preceded Randy in death.
