Thelma Christine “Chrissy” Figueroa, age 37, passed away Wednesday at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill. Born in Olney, MD, she was the daughter of J.R. Carter and Julie Carter. Chrissy was a dedicated volunteer to children in the Calypso Community and was currently serving as the Vice-President of the Calypso Parks and Recreation.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday evening at 6:00 pm in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Dail officiating. Family members will greet friends Monday immediately following the service at the funeral home for visitation. A committal service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 pm at the Faison Cemetery.
In addition to her parents, Chrissy was a loving and faithful wife to her husband, Amaury Figueroa; an awesome and caring mom to her children, Kyle Joseph Figueroa and Skyler Alexis Figueroa; sister to Billy Carter, Ivan Carter, Ralph Carter, Keith Carter and Tammy Santos; best friend to Kelly Lee; and an amazing aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts for the children’s college fund, may be directed to the Amaury Figueroa Family Tragedy Account, C/O SECU, P.O. Drawer 918, Goldsboro, NC 27533.
