Billy Swinson, 78, of Dudley passed away on Saturday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Willis Henry and Florrie Mae Swinson, and was the husband of Iris Swinson. Billy was a lifetime member of Dudley Christian Church and a past member of the Dudley Volunteer Fire Department. Billy was retired from the NCDOT as a sign erector, and had also worked as a farmer and a landscaper.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Blaine Smith officiating with committal services following in Wayne Memorial Park. At the family’s request, casual attire is acceptable.

In addition to his wife, Billy is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Cooley and husband, Burt of Dudley; his son, Todd Swinson of Warsaw; a sister, Carolyn Cobb and husband Dicky of Raleigh; three grandchildren, Tyler Cooley, Hannah Cooley, and Alexis Swinson; and a special friend, Bill Baker of Goldsboro.

In addition to his parents, Billy is preceded in death by his brothers, Royce and Allen Swinson.
