Laura Lee Butler Jones, 72, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Wayne UNC Healthcare.
Laura was born in Washington, D.C. on September 30, 1946, one of thirteen children, to the late Robert Preston Butler and Mary Catherine Guilroy Butler. For over 20 years, Laura worked as a teacher’s assistant with St. Mary Catholic School and enjoyed the opportunities given to her by helping to impact the lives of so many children. Laura loved St. Mary Catholic Parish and was a dedicated and faithful servant her entire life. She always enjoyed the opportunity to work in her garden and with her flowers as was always reflected in the beauty of her yard. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her precious grandchildren. She will be missed.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Parish. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of St. Mary Catholic Parish.
Laura is survived by her husband of 55 years, Harold David Jones; son, Lawrence David Jones; daughter, Katie Jones Hildreth and husband Glen; grandchildren, Kellie Jones, Gavin Hildreth, Parker Hildreth and Camden Hildreth; sisters, Mary Smoot, Barbara Johnson, Catherine Smith and Susan Glidden; and brother, John Butler.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Lee Jones.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given in her memory to Cures for the Colors, SMOC, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, NC 27534.
