Cornelia “Boots” Young Moore, 83, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2019 at Wayne UNC Healthcare surrounded by her family.
Boots was born in Wayne County on June 1, 1935 to the late Willie and Dixie McFatter Young. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Tilghman Moore and Vernon Moore. For many years, she worked as a nurse’s assistant for a retirement home.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2019 in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Toler officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Cornelia is survived by her daughters, Betty Johnston and husband Richard of Goldsboro, JoAnn Walden and husband James of Burnside, KY and Christy Johnson and husband Charles of Rosewood; son, Davey Moore of Goldsboro; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Williams (Ernest), Valerie Mahon (Carl), Samantha Davis (Rodney), Brandy McMullen Leon (Domingo), Tammy Boyette (Michael), David Moore, Davey Moore, Gary Moore, Rebecca Clarke and their spouses and their extended families. She is also survived by her sister, Patsy Evans.
In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Willie Tilghman “Shot Gun” Moore and sisters, Reba Butts and Lula Mae Etheridge.
The family will receive friends Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Seymour Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and other times at the home of Betty and Richard Johnston, 185 Woodpeck Road, Goldsboro.
