Joseph William Wilson, 85, life-long resident of the Mount Olive area, passed away late Monday night, April 22, 2019 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Mr. Wilson, son of the late John S. Wilson and Esther Lee Potts Wilson was retired from Carolina Power and Light Company where he was shift foreman. He also had been a farmer and was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Mount Olive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 25, at 11 a.m. by the graveside in the Wilson Family Cemetery located near his residence. Dr. Dennis Atwood will officiate. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service. At other times, friends and relatives are welcome to call at the residence of Mary and Jimmy Guilliams.
Memorial gifts may be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 203, Mount Olive, NC 28365.

The mother of his children, Blanche Williams Wilson, passed away in 2008.

Immediate survivors include his daughters, Mary Wilson Guilliams and husband, Jimmy, and Esther Jo Wilson Davis, all of Mount Olive; three beloved grandchildren, Hannah Lottie Guilliams, Laura Rachel Barwick Swinson, and husband, Greg, and Aaron Barwick and wife, Cayla Hobbs Barwick; two great-grandchildren, Wilson Rouse and James Ellis Swinson, with another on the way; and three sisters, Carolyn Wilson Lawrence of Colerain, Nancy Wilson of Holly Springs, and Elizabeth Wilson of Selma.

Another sister, Judy Wilson, preceded him in death.

Arrangements are with Tyndall Funeral Home.
