Mary Elizabeth “Lib” Holland Davis Whiteside, 84, was called home on Monday, August 1, 2016 to the loving arms of Jesus Christ her Lord.

Lib was born in Wayne County on December 7, 1931 to the late L.R. and Mildred Benton Holland.  She was married to the late Vernon Davis for 46 years and to the late Jack Whiteside for 14 years.  Lib had worked with Woolworth’s in Goldsboro and was a volunteer at Wayne Memorial Hospital for many years. She enjoyed life and spending time with her family, friends and dog, Sissie.  However her greatest joy was when she was able to talk about God and work with the Women’s Ministry at the churches she attended.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 4, 2016 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service celebrating Lib’s life at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel with Rev. Ronnie Heath and Rev. Richard Patterson officiating.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Lib is survived by her son, Billy Davis and wife Glenda; grandchildren, Michael Galloway and Daniel Ray; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.  She is also survived by her step children, Susan Michael and husband Jerry, Pattie Irene Edens, and John F. Whiteside III and wife Debbie; six step grandchildren; 7 step great-grandchildren; brother, Bobby Holland and wife Carol; sister, Edna Earle Holland Williams; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, LaVerne Davis Custard; grandson, Robert Ray; and sisters, Dollie Kornegay and Hilda Edwards.

In lieu of flowers, Lib requests memorials be given to the church of one’s choice, Cures for the Colors, 203 Cox Blvd, Goldsboro, NC 27534 or to the Gideons International, P.O. Box 10093, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
