Ralph Lee Vernon

June 25, 92, Warsaw

Ralph Lee Vernon, 92, Warsaw resident and United States Army Veteran of World War II, passed away early Monday morning, June 25, at Warsaw Health and Rehab. Center.

Mr. Vernon was retired with West Auto Parts, was a member of Warsaw Presbyterian Church where he had served as deacon and elder, and was a member of the Warsaw post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He had been a Boy Scouts Troop Leader and was a volunteer with Warsaw Fire and Rescue in years gone by.

Mr. Vernon was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Pigford Vernon; his parents, Edwin L. and Maude King Vernon; a sister and three brothers.

He is survived by his four children, Melvin Vernon of Warsaw, Jenny V. Whitfield and husband, Boots, of Goldsboro, Mary Lee McKay of Newport, and Debbie V. Pergerson and husband, Mitch, of Roxboro; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a special niece, Hilda Miller. Also remembered is his special friend, Mrs. Annie Outlaw, whom God called home later the same day as Mr. Vernon.

Mr. Vernon’s life will be remembered in a graveside service to be held on Sunday, July 1, at 2 p.m. in the Faison Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Michael L. “Mickey” Whitfield. The family will greet friends at the Warsaw Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Patient Services at Warsaw Health & Rehab, 214 Lane Field Rd., Warsaw, NC 28398, or the charity of one’s choosing.
