Dudley-Charles Brooks Marriner, Sr., 81, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at his home. Born in Wayne County on August 15, 1936 he was the son of the late Louis Edward Marriner, Sr. and Sarah Best Marriner.
Brooks was the owner and president of Metalcrafters of Goldsboro. He was a member of the Goldsboro Masonic Lodge 634, the Sudan Temple, and founder of the Sudan Mini-Rigs. Brooks was a lifetime member of the Goldsboro Jaycees, a member of the Goldsboro Elk’s Lodge 139 B.P.O.E. Brooks was awarded the highest honor in the state, The Order of the Long Leaf Pine. He was a veteran of the N. C. National Guard. A man of great faith, Brooks was a member of Dudley Christian Church.
A graveside service to celebrate Brooks’ life will be held Friday, June 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. from Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Blane Smith officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
Brooks is survived by his wife of fifty nine years, JoAnn Eason Marriner; children, Charles “Chuck” Marriner, Jr. and wife, Cristal, Steven Alan Marriner and wife, Matilda, Ashley Brent Marriner and Jannah; and grandchildren, Brandy Marriner, Brett Marriner, Parker Marriner, Mason Marriner, Amelia Marriner, Ashley Marriner, Rylee Pate and Marshall Pate.
In addition to his parents, Brooks was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Brooks Marriner.
