Frances Braxton Davis, age 94, died Monday at Brookdale Assisted Living. Born in Lenoir County and a longtime resident of Dudley, she was the daughter of the late Evelyn Amey Wellons Braxton and John Gilmore Braxton. She married Christopher W. Davis in 1943. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Linda Davis Lemmons.
A service to celebrate Frances’ life will be held Friday at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Mr. C. Neal Alexander, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. Family members will greet friends Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Davis is survived by her son, Curtis H. Davis and wife, Brendaof Loveland, CO; a son in law, Roger W. Lemmons of Clemmons, NC; a sister in law, Elaine Davis Gilmore, of Dayton, OH; grandchildren, Lisa Lemmons Cox and husband, Tracey of Winston Salem, NC, Laura Lemmons Williams of Atlantic Beach, NC, Lyndsay M. Davis of Denver, CO, Parker H. Davis and wife, Ashley of Fort Collins, CO and two great granddaughters, Audrey Williams and Riley Davis; along with many nieces, nephews and friends who loved and cared for Frances.
The family would like to thank Brookdale Assisted Living, Christian Caregivers and Community Home Care and Hospice for their love, care and support they gave Frances.
