Marvin Ray Worley, 69, passed away Monday, February 19, 2018 at UNC Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill surrounded by his family.

Marvin was born in Wayne County, NC on March 15, 1948 to the late Marvin Worley and Eva Anderson Worley. He was retired from the State Department of Motor Vehicles Licenses and Theft Division and was a past member of the Goldsboro Rescue Squad. Marvin proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. An avid train enthusiast, he loved traveling to Disney World and taking an underprivileged child and their family. Marvin was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine by the governor of North Carolina for his service to our state. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A service to celebrate Marvin’s life will be Friday, February 23, 2018 at 7:00 PM in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Crank and Rev. Mike McAuley. The family will receive friends following the service. Graveside services will be Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11:00 AM in Wayne Memorial Park.

Marvin is survived by his daughter, Angie Gurley of Goldsboro; grandson, Colby Hooks of Goldsboro; and sisters, Mary Ann Ward of Goldsboro, Linda Braswell and husband Bobby of Goldsboro and Donna White and husband Eddy of Wrightsville Beach;. He is also survived by his nieces, Michelle Beach and husband Dan and their children, Summer and Hunter; and Lisa Ward and friend Kevin Bates; and Savannah White; nephew, Brandon Braswell and wife Sandra and their children, Emily and Anna and great nephew, Matthew Ward (son of predeceased nephew, Steve Ward).

In lieu of flowers to honor Marvin Ray, donations may be directed to Make-A-Wish of Eastern North Carolina, 3809 Computer Drive, Suite 201 Raleigh, NC 27609.
