December 19, 69,

James Neal Casey, 69, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

Neal was born in Wayne County on July 30, 1948 to the late Sam C. Casey Jr. and Sarah W. Casey. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Neal was a partner in the family business, Wayne Hardwood Lumber and Arrington Chip, for over 50 years. He later worked with P&L Tractor in Goldsboro for 10 years. Neal loved life, his animals, collecting miniature John Deere and Farmall Tractors and going to gun shows. Neal would also travel far and wide to find a good find at a saw mill auction. Those of us who knew Neal weep at our loss, laugh with our remembrances, and reflect deeply on how much he meant to us. He made the world a healthier and happier place.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Neal’s life at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel with Rev. Jim Willoughby officiating. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park with military honors.

Neal is survived by his wife of 36 years, Connie D. Casey; brother, Dennis P. Casey and his children, David Casey and Amie Casey. He is also survived by his nephew, Craig Byrd and wife Beth; a special nephew, Brandon Bond; his k-9 friend, Toby and cat, Polly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Byrd and niece, Kelly Byrd.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
