Barbara Matthews Scarbro, 78, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.
Barbara was born in Charlottesville, Virginia on November 1, 1939 to the late William and Mary Hamilton Matthews. Girl Scouts played an important role in Barbara’s life as she served many years as a leader. Barbara was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a dedicated and faithful servant her entire life.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1000 Eleventh Street, Goldsboro followed by a service to celebrate Barbara’s life at 1:30 p.m. in the sanctuary with Bishop Garry Waters presiding. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Layton Scarbro; daughter, Tammy Bauguess and husband Brien of Pikeville; sons, Darrell Shelton and wife Myra of Peru, David Shelton of Orlando, FL, and Dana Shelton of Fayetteville; and five grandchildren.
