Margaret Vassar Jernigan, 89, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Margaret was born in Albany, Georgia on October 28, 1927 to the late Brinker S. Vassar and Margaret Prescott Vassar. She was a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church for 60 years where she served as a pitcher on the woman’s softball team and as a Cub Scout Leader of Pack 4.
Margaret’s natural competitive spirit led her to enjoy a broad spectrum of sports. Margaret bowled competitively in the semi pro league with North Carolina’s number one bowler at that time.
