Willie Mae Hardee Hill, 89, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2017 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Willie Mae was born in Johnston County on July 28, 1928 to the late Wilbur Allen Hardee and Ada Mae Batten Hardee. She was married to the late Henry Thomas Hill, Jr. Willie Mae retired from Wayne Memorial Hospital after twenty years of service. She loved First Christian Church and was a dedicated and faithful servant her entire life. Willie Mae was also an instrumental part of the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She enjoyed gardening and cooking for others and could often be found helping others in her community. Willie Mae brought joy, laughter and love to everyone she met, as she never met a stranger. Our family was lucky to have her in our lives.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 5, 2017 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at First Christian Church followed by a service to celebrate Willie Mae’s life at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary with Rev. Dr. Fred Clarke and Rev. Dr. Penny Ziemer officiating. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
Willie Mae is survived by her daughter, Sharon Watkins and husband Brantley of Goldsboro; granddaughter, Kimberly Younts and husband David and great grandson, Sam Younts. She is also survived by her brothers, Bill Hardee and wife Nancy, W. A. Hardee and wife Debbie, and James Hardee and wife Barbara; sister, Ann Brown; and several nieces and nephews she loved very much.
