Robert Allen “Robby” Mewborn Jr., 54, of Seven Springs, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2017. Robby was born December 28, 1962 to Melba Watson Mewborn and the late Robert Allen Mewborn. Robby graduated from Coastal Carolina Community College with a degree in Automotive Systems Technology. For the past 16 years, Robby taught Automotive Technology at Southwest Onslow High School. Robby’s passion for automotive technology was a great inspiration to his students. His calling for shaping young minds was recently recognized by Southwest Onslow High School, where he was named Teacher Of The Year. Robby was one who enjoyed working with his hands. A master mechanic, Robby relished tackling projects others thought were too difficult. Always the outdoorsman, Robby found great peace being at home working in his yard, tending to the garden or deer hunting. He loved the coast and salt water fishing. A tug on his fishing line, no matter the size of the fish would always bring a big, bright smile to Robby. Robby was fascinated with antiquing, old tractors and machinery with a hit-and-miss engine. Robby also enjoyed beekeeping and was a member of the Neuse Regional Beekeepers Association. Nothing was better to Robby than a gathering of family and friends. Robby loved cooking on the grill. His family has many fond memories of his fantastic barbecue chicken. Robby recently began attending Daly’s Chapel Free will Baptist Church.

A service to celebrate and honor Robby’s life will be held Friday, July 21, 2017 at 11 a.m. from Rouse Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Daly’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

In addition to his mother, Robby is survived by his wife of four years, Jan Waters Mewborn; daughter, Katie Mewborn; brother, Chris Mewborn and wife, Tonya; two step-daughters, Crystal Modlin and husband, Justin, and Heather Toler; two nephews, Josh Mewborn and Trevor Johnson; along with seven step-grandchildren.

Robby’s family will receive family and friends Friday during the hour before the service. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. Memorials may be made to the Southwest Onslow Automotive Technology Program, 1420 Burgaw Highway, Jacksonville, NC 28540. Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
