July 13, 84,

Dixie Bunn Letchworth, 84, peacefully passed away Thursday morning surrounded by her family. Born in Lenoir County, she was the third of thirteen children born to the late Charlie Bunn and Carrie Hinnant Bunn. She was the wife of the late Benjamin Thurston Letchworth. Dixie loved her Lord, and started each day by reading her Bible and a devotion from “The Daily Bread.”  She was a faithful and devoted member of La Grange First Free Will Baptist Church. After raising her three sons, Dixie went back to school and graduated with a bachelors degree in education from Atlantic Christian College. She worked at La Grange Elementary School for thirty years. Quiet and gentle by nature, Dixie appreciated the simple things in life. She enjoyed admiring God’s creation and especially enjoyed watching the humming birds at the feeder she placed in her yard. She loved cooking and had an extensive cookbook collection. Always active, she found a home at the local Curves and formed a special bond with her friends there. Most important in her life was her family. She took great pride in all of her grandchildren and relished time spent with them.

A service to celebrate Dixie’s life will be held Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie Hobgood officiating. A graveside committal service will be held Sunday, July 16, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from Fairview Cemetery.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Whitley and Ellen Seymour.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to caregivers, Sonja Ginn, Lana Pate, Patty Tripp, Wendy Gautier, Samantha Hardison, and Peggy Scallan for their exceptional care and devotion to Dixie.
