May 23, 86, Goldsboro Jane Williams Kornegay, passed away Monday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. She was the daughter of the late Bruce and Bethel Williams, and wife of the late Herbert Kornegay. Mama Jane as she was known best was a member of Freedom Baptist Church and dearly loved her church family. She was retired from Sears Department Store following many years of dedicated service.
A funeral service will be held at Freedom Baptist Church on Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jonathan Smith and Reverend Ray Deck officiating. Committal services will follow at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday night at the church from 7:00 -9:00 P.M.
Mama is survived by her daughters, Gail K. Herring and husband, Randal of La Grange, Dianne K. Newman of Goldsboro, and Sandra K. Outlaw of Goldsboro; a sister, Hettie Gales of Goldsboro; her neighbors and close friends, Joyce Newcomb and Gordon Hinson; grandchildren Jay & Cindy Minchew, Jeff Minchew, Bill Minchew, Lisa Minchew, Natalie & Joel Garris, Michael & Mary Newman, Alan & Angie Outlaw, and Marcia & Jeff Belding; great grandchildren, Blake Price, Ashley Minchew, Mckenzie Minchew, Mason Minchew, Noel Garris, Joel Franklin Garris II “Joah”, Grace-Talbert Newman, Kayla & Steven Whitfield, Alanna Outlaw, and Anthony Belding; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Mama was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Buddy Newman; brother, Richard B. Williams; sister, Peggy W. Hollowell; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Williams; brothers-in-law, Carl E. Hollowell and Kenneth Ray Gales.
