William Peter Cerny, 78, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.
Pete was born in New York City on February 13, 1939 to the late William and Millicent Cerny. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Pete was a man of God and served his community as a pastor.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. in the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Charles Kirkland officiating.
Pete is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gay Woodard Cerny; daughter, Letitia Bridgeman and husband Austin of Washington, NC; sons, William P. “Bill” Cerny II and wife Chasity of Pikeville, John Cerny and wife Susan of Washington, NC, Aaron Cerny of Roanoke, VA, Joseph Cerny and wife Jessica of Goldsboro, and Benjamin Cerny of Goldsboro; twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Cerny.
