June 14, 64,
Oliver Jacqueline “Jack” Scott, Jr., 64, passed away early on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at his home.
Jack was born in Duplin County on February 2, 1953 to the late Oliver Jack Scott and Mavis Sheppard Scott. He had been an employee of Sears and later was a self-employed small engine repairman at his home. Those of us who knew Jack weep at our loss, laugh with our remembrances, and reflect deeply on how much he meant to us. Jack had a wonderful sense of humor and never took himself too seriously. He was a good friend, a great father and had a generous heart. He provided a wonderful home for his family and gave all he could to his family and strangers alike.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 16, 2017 from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service celebrating Jack’s life at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will follow the service in the Hill Family Cemetery in Parkstown.
Jack is survived by his wife, Sharon Overman Scott; daughter, Pamela Jane Scott of Princeton; son, Joseph Alan “Little Man” Scott of LaGrange; grandson, Brantley Khristian Farmer; and brother, Walter Scott of Mount Olive. He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Sheila Overman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Whitley.
