Lillie Mae Sykes, 97, departed this walk of life Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Goldsboro Assisted Living.
A graveside service will be held Friday, April 28, 2017at 11 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Goldsboro. Pastor Mona Williamson will officiate.
Mrs. Sykes was born in Wilson County on June 02, 1919 to the late James and Elizabeth Atkinson Brunson. She attended Miracle Temple Church in Goldsboro.
She leaves to cherish her memories, one son, Tommy Lee Tate of Goldsboro; one daughter, Diane Bell and husband, Chester of New York; one daughter-in-law, Annie Sarah Smith Brown of Goldsboro; one sister, Dorothy Jones of Goldsboro; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and a host nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sykes was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Sykes; her son, Ricky Lee Brown; four brothers, Walter Brunson, James Brunson, J.T. Brunson and Leonard “Tweet” Brunson and one sister, Eloise Brunson Lane.
Viewing will be Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 3 until 6 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory with the family present from 5 until 6 p.m. The family will receive friends other times at the home of her daughter-in-law, Annie Smith Brown, 813 ½ E. Walnut Street in Goldsboro.
