Sandra Pickett of 117 Elmore St. passed at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, NC.

On April 19th, 2017, the trumpet was blown for Saundra Pickett to come home to be with the Lord.  She was born on December 13th, 1936 in Maple Hill, North Carolina, but spent much of her adult life living in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.  After a long career with the U.S. Postal Service she retired and moved to Mount Olive, North Carolina, to live out the remainder of her life.

She was very active in her home church in Washington, D.C. and Mount Olive, NC, in the capacity of Sunday School Teacher, Director of Christian Education and Bible School.  In addition, she loved singing as a member of the church choir.  During her later years, she also held the distinction, as one of the Mothers of the Church.  Furthermore, she was very active for many years as an instructor teaching arts and crafts at the Senior Center in Mount Olive. In addition, she loved doing outreach to kids leading them to the Lord, by introducing them to Sunday School. She was very active in the Missionary Department at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church.

Saundra Pickett also liked working outside in her garden growing her own vegetables and grapes.

She is preceded in death by two sons: Patrick Pickett and Ronald Pickett.

She leaves three sons to cherish her precious memories:  Kenneth, Gary, and Christopher, along with their father Charles Pickett.  Saundra Pickett is also survived by her sister Vera Sutton and sister-in-law Nancy Moore.  She leaves behind 2 grandchildren Tanisha and Bryce and 1 great grandchild Terrell, with a host of other relatives and friends.
