April 10, 67, Kinston

Herbert Ray “Rudy” Williams Jr., 67, of Kinston, completed his earthly journey on Monday, April 10, 2017. Rudy was born November 3, 1949 in Lenoir County to the late Herbert Ray Williams Sr. and Josie Creech Williams. Rudy received his undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University and his master’s degree from the University Of Georgia. He retired from North Carolina Cooperative Extension where he worked as a County Livestock Agent. Rudy was well liked, ultra conservative and very much a perfectionist who took great pride in doing things his way. He loved being in the country and living the farm life. Rudy enjoyed tinkering on the farm, having the latest farm equipment and in earlier years looking after his prized herd of Black Angus cattle. Rudy was a passionate follower of NC State Athletics and worshiped at Webb Chapel United Methodist Church.

A service to celebrate and honor Rudy’s life will be held Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 2 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with Rev. Rod Dorn officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery.

Rudy is survived by his two daughters, Kelly Williams of Nashville, TN and Ashley W. Herring and her husband, Stephen of Raleigh; a brother, Ralph Allen Williams and his wife, Miriam of Lexington, KY; and a nephew, Justin Williams and his wife, Melissa.

Rudy’s family will receive family and friends Thursday from 1-2 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home.
Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. Memorials may be made to Scleroderma Foundation, 300 Rosewood Drive-Suite 105, Danvers, MA 01923.
