February 25, 63,
Johnny James Radford, 63, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Vidant-Edgecombe Medical Center in Tarboro.
Johnny was born in Johnston County on August 7, 1953 to the late James Burden Radford and Alice Minshew Radford. His first and favorite occupation was a truck driver, and many of his happiest times were spent behind the wheel of his prized red truck. Johnny was a hard-working man. He was the kind of man who was loyal to his children and grandchildren, who took great pride in caring and providing for them. Those of us who knew Johnny weep at our loss, laugh with our remembrances, and reflect deeply on how much he meant to us. Johnny made the world a healthier and happier place.
A service celebrating Johnny’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Vernon Capps officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of his son, 4850 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro. Interment will be on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gurley Family Cemetery in Pikeville.
Johnny is survived by his son, Johnny James (John) Radford, Jr. and Natalie Narron; daughter, Jamie O’Callaghan and husband Benjamin; and his grandchildren and the apples of his eye, Noah, Gage, Jace, Haven, Tylan, and Layton. He is also survived by his brothers, Billy R. Radford, Sr. and wife Janel, and Jerry Lee Radford, Sr. and wife Judy; sister, Brenda R. Best and husband; and his in-laws that he loved very much, John William and Peggy Gurley.
