Bobby James Sutton, 74, of La Grange, peacefully passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017 at his home. Bobby was born November 1, 1942 in Lenoir County to the late Wesley Allen Sutton and Alice Sykes Sutton. Bobby worked twenty five years with Sprint/Carolina Telephone. Fascinated with cameras and photography, Bobby took classes in the late 70’s on camera repair and later opened Sutton’s Camera Repair. Bobby enjoyed working with his hands and in 1989 he pursued his dream of country living by building his home outside of La Grange. He loved the outdoors, working in his yard, trips to the mountains and riding around to check out the countryside. Bobby liked the older, simpler things of life and nothing was better to him than being “Grandpa” to his family and everyone he came in contact with.
A service to celebrate and honor Bobby’s life will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 2 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Bobby is survived by his wife of fifty five years, Joan Carlyle Sutton; four children, Bobby Jay Sutton and wife, Kelly of La Grange, Nathan Allen “Nat” Sutton and wife, Crystal of Pollocksville, Michelle Sutton and her companion, Andy Wright of La Grange and Edward Wayne Sutton and wife, Tonya of La Grange; six grandchildren, Jacob, Caleb, Zachary, Caleb, Taylor and Haley.
