December 2, 51, La Grangedevorah-owens

Deborah “Debbie” Rouse Owens, 51, of La Grange, passed away Friday, December 2, 2016. Debbie was born November 16, 1965 in Germany to Mary George Rouse and the late Russell Rouse. First and foremost to Debbie was her family. She relished her roles as wife, mother, and grandmother. Debbie’s life set an example for her family that will guide them all their lives. She was a caring, loving wife, parent and grandparent whose primary goal was the happiness and security of her family. With a giving spirit, Debbie always put the needs of others ahead of her own needs. She lived a life of dedication to her family, friends, and community. Debbie worked as a agent with Lenoir County Farm Bureau. Debbie felt it was her responsibility to assist her clients and their families beyond their expectations. She firmly believed in the Farm Bureau motto that “helping you is what we do best!” Debbie possessed a smile that would brighten any room, and her positive outlook endeared her with everyone she came in contact with.

When away from the office, Debbie was the consummate homebody. Nothing was better to Debbie than being at home. She enjoyed lounging in her pajamas and bedroom slippers with a good book. Debbie loved watching Home & Garden Television, crime thrillers and lived for Sunday nights to watch “The Walking Dead” with her children. Tendall and Tyler’s friends thought of her as a second mother. Debbie’s love of home was visible everywhere you looked when visiting. Her plants and flowers were evidence of her green thumb. She developed her own house plans and loved interior design. Jeffrey, Tyler and Tendall have fond memories of her Sunday lunches. Debbie firmly believed happiness begins at home.

A service to celebrate and honor Debbie’s life will be held Monday, December 5, 2016 at 6 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Mitchell officiating. Burial will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. from Fairview Cemetery.

In addition to her mother, Debbie is survived by her husband of twenty-seven years, Jeffrey D. Owens; two children, Tyler Owens and Tendall Owens; grandchild, Brayden King; two siblings, Ronda Dykes and husband, Johnny, and Richard “Buckshot” Rouse; father and mother-in-law, Keith and Faye Radford; sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Jeff Lane; two nieces, Brittany Young and Kelly Rouse; and the mother of her grandson, Sarah King, who Debbie thought of as a daughter-in-law. In addition to her father, Debbie was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa Heikes.

Friends and family will be received Monday following the service. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
