Henry Nelson Swinson, native of the Beautancus area near Mount Olive, passed away Wednesday night, April 8, 2020 at Oakview Nursing Center in Four Oaks. He was 78.
Nelson, as he was known locally, lived most of his adult life in Charleston S.C. A man of many talents and trades, he had operated a television repair business, had been a salesman in various capacities, had farmed, and had been a charter fisherman.
He is survived by a daughter, Laurie Marie Roshelli of Smyrna, Fla; two sons, Henry Nelson “Hank” Doolittle of Charleston, and Austin Swinson of Georgia; two granddaughters, Gabrielle and Caroline Roshelli of Smyrna, Fla; three sisters, Clementine S. Waters and husband, Nelson, Ramona S. Harrell, and Deloris S. Outlaw, all of Mount Olive; two brothers, Robert Anthony Swinson and wife, Sandra, and Dexter Michael Swinson, all of Mount Olive; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, William John Swinson and Ena Mae Sullivan Swinson, and a brother, William John “Billy” Swinson, Jr. preceded him in death.
Graveside funeral rites will be held Monday, April 13, at 2 p.m. in the Swinson Family Cemetery. For those planning to attend, please practice social distancing.
