Dolores Jordan Smith, 91, passed away early Monday morning at Wayne UNC Health Care in Goldsboro.
Dolores was born in New Hanover County on August 4, 1928 to the late Leslie Raymond Jordan and Nettie Pittman Jordan. She was married for 60 years to the late Billy Gerald Smith.
Her life was filled with humility, kindness and a love for others that she displayed every time she smiled. Dolores was a graduate of the Louisburg College Nursing Program where she obtained LPN certification. Upon graduation she worked several years at Wayne Memorial Hospital and later at Guardian Care Nursing Home. She dedicated her life to serving her family unselfishly and to serving her Lord. Dolores was a member of Pine Forest United Methodist Church where she served the Lord in many ways. She was always on call to give an encouraging word or helping hand.
The family will receive friends Friday, February 28, 2020 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Pine Forest United Methodist Church followed by a celebration of her life at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Rev. Madison Hankel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Dolores is survived by her sons, Gerald Smith and wife Teresa of Charlotte, Bryan Smith of Goldsboro and David Smith of Goldsboro, her son-in-law Todd Smith; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, including: Manuel and DeeDee. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Jordan of Goldsboro; and brother, Ray Jordan of Albemarle.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Denise, sisters, Ollie Kornegay, Shirley Cousins, Kitty Newman, Carol Mitchell, and Erlene Evans and brothers Ben Jordan and Bobby Jordon.
Flowers are welcome, though memorials may be given in her memory to Pine Forest United Methodist Church, 867 S NC Hwy 581, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
