May 1, 93, KinstonAlice Sykes Sutton, of Kinston, peacefully passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016. Alice was born September 28, 1922 in Lenoir County to the late James Sykes and Sudie Daughety Sykes. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Allen Sutton; and two children, Eddie Sutton and Weslette Sutton. Alice relished her role as a caregiver and quite often placed the needs of others ahead of her own needs. She was a member of Glen Raven Baptist Church. Alice especially loved helping prepare costumes for the church dramas. A talented cook and seamstress, Alice loved using her gifts for the benefit of others.
A service to celebrate and honor Alice’s life will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 7 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home. Burial will be Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 11 a.m. from Westview Cemetery.
Mrs. Sutton is survived by a son, Bobby Sutton and wife, Joan of La Grange; four grandchildren, Bobby Jay Sutton and wife, Kelly of La Grange, Nathan Allen Sutton and wife, Crystal of Pollocksville, Michelle Sutton and her companion, Andy Wright of La Grange and Edward Wayne Sutton and wife, Tonya of La Grange; six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Caleb, Zachary, Caleb, Taylor and Haley; along with two brothers, Ed Sykes and Paul Sykes, both of Kinston.
