Joseph Lee Carter Sr., 51, of Goldsboro died on Monday at Wayne UNC Hospital. He was the son of the late Leonard and Janice Barbour Carter. Big Joe as he was known, was one of the best body mechanics in Wayne county. He loved to hunt, fish, and cook, as well as search for arrow heads.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday at Emmaus Baptist Church Cemetery at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Jim Willoughby officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Mr. Carter is survived by a son, Anthony Carter and girlfriend, Deanna Lynch; a daughter, Chelsea Carter; a brother, Jimmy Carter; a sister, Cindy Tripplet; 7 grandchildren, Jayden Carter, Phillip Lynch, Wyatt Carter, Camden Carter, Anthony “A.J.” Carter, Brantley Carter, and Maci Glowner.
In addition to his parents a son, Joseph Carter Jr. preceded him in death.
